A waitlist is a tool or system used by businesses and organizations to manage people who are waiting for a service, product, or spot. Instead of standing in a physical line, people “join” the waitlist and get notified when it’s their turn.

Where waitlists are used:

  • Restaurants & cafés

  • Clinics & hospitals

  • Salons & spas

  • Customer service desks

  • Events & classes

  • Product launches or beta programs

How it works:

  1. Customer joins the waitlist (online, via QR code, by phone, or added by staff).

  2. Customer gets updates (via SMS, email, WhatsApp, or display screen).

  3. Business calls the customer when it’s their turn.

  4. Customer is served or gets access to the product/service.

Why businesses use waitlists:

  • Reduce physical crowds and queues

  • Keep customers informed and comfortable

  • Improve service order and efficiency

  • Analyze wait times and customer flow
