Set Up Categories in Qwaiting

Learn how to create and configure service categories to manage bookings and check-ins effectively

To organize your services and make it easier for customers to navigate through your offerings, Qwaiting allows you to create Categories. These categories help segment your services and streamline the queue experience across kiosks, mobile devices, and online platforms.

Why Use Categories?

  • Group services by type or department

  • Improve customer journey and reduce confusion

  • Enable better queue management with clear service flows

Steps to Add Categories

1. Access the Category Section

  • Log in to your Qwaiting dashboard.

  • Navigate to the “Category” section from the side menu.

2. Understand Category Levels

Qwaiting supports a multi-level category structure:

  • Level 1: Main Categories (e.g., Department, Service Type)

  • Level 2: Sub-Categories (e.g., Specific Services under a department)

  • Further Sub-levels: Optional – you can go deeper based on service hierarchy.

3. Add a New Category

Click the “Add Category” button and fill in the following details:

  • Category Name: Enter the name of the service you want to add.

  • Category Name (Other Language): Use this field to enter the service name in another language if needed.

  • Acronym: Provide an abbreviation for the service name for easy reference.

  • Display On: Choose where you want the service to be visible on the Ticket Screen, Transfer Screen, or on Both.

  • For Screen: Select where the service should appear on the Walk-In Screen, Appointment Screen, or on Both.

  • For Screen (Other): Offers three dropdown options:

    • Display on the Backend Screen

    • Display for Appointment Screen only

    • Display on Both

  • Service Type (Paid or Free): Choose whether the service is Paid or Free from the dropdown options.

  • Image: Upload an icon to visually represent the service.

  • Locations: Select the location(s) where this service should be available. Useful for businesses with multiple locations.

  • Service Time (in mins) (Optional): Specify the estimated duration for the service. This will be displayed to the customer.

  • Service Note (Optional): Add any additional notes about the service. To use this field, make sure the "Service Note" option is enabled before creating the category.

  • Description (Optional): Provide a brief description of the service for better clarity.

Once all the required and optional details are filled in, click Create to add the service. Now the service will be seen in the category section .When a visitor checks in or makes a booking, they will be able to view the available services.

This category setup helps create a more intuitive and organized customer experience while allowing your staff to manage queues more efficiently.
